Ok, now let’s understand how to keep your skin looking incredible and feeling great.

1. Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning? It’s an amazing and popular procedure that helps skin rejuvenate, hydrate, and look fuller and brighter.

Dermaplaning is when a clinical dermatologist or a local aesthetician takes a knife’s edge to remove the top layer of dead skin cells on your face. It’s literally shaving away a layer of dead skin to reveal the fresh, healthy skin your body is producing underneath (humans are like onions, we have layers!).

This process can be performed with a manual or electronic dermaplaning tool with a razor blade very similar to the one you use to shave, and usually takes about 20 – 45 minutes. While this is a procedure you can do on your own using professional tools, it’s highly recommended that you go into a professional skincare facility to get a trained expert to perform the procedure. We’d love to see you at Cate’s Touch in Rockwall, TX!

How does it feel?

Dermaplaning is what we call non-invasive which means it won’t puncture your skin. It doesn’t hurt, it is low risk, and doesn’t take much time. Dermaplaning is a great way to exfoliate, remove unwanted peach fuzz, and even help clear up acne scarring or sun damaged patches of skin. You usually will not feel anything, or perhaps at most a light brushing on your face during the process. The clinical aesthetician will take extra care to work around the natural shape of your face to reveal your cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and expose your beautiful features.

What does it do?

The process aims to remove 3 weeks worth of dead skin buildup, oftentimes the procedure will require you to go into a salon every month or so to maintain your results.

Dermaplaning is an excellent treatment for all skin types, especially mature skin.

If you plan on doing another form of treatment, like chemical peel or hydrafacial that deals with the top layer of skin, then we recommend you first do hydroplaning, because it will remove the top layer of skin so that your peel or cleaning will go even deeper and work for even longer as it is doesn’t have to penetrate a dead skin layer.

You might leave the spa with red skin for a couple days, and you’ll definitely want to have some sunscreen on because your newly exposed skin will be sensitive to the UV rays. It’s like you are a finely shaved wedge of parmesan, and your outer layer just got shaved off, so you’ll definitely want to make sure it’s protected from the sun while your body naturally begins to reproduce the layer of protection it used to have.

Dermaplaning can be used to treat multiple skin conditions such as;

  • acne scars
  • dull skin
  • dry skin
  • sun-damaged skin
  • fine wrinkles

2. Hydrafacial

What is a Hydrafacial?

It’s a non-invasive exfoliating treatment that focuses on serums and rejuvenation to revive your skin and restore your natural collagen. In practical terms, we’re adding those necessary building blocks back to your skin for a beautiful look while also cleaning the pores out.

Hydrafacials are amazing for making your skin feel and look better, the cells will be so happy when they’ve been washed and replenished with those oh-so needed minerals and vitamins as well as the collagen that has broken down.

How does it feel?

When you go to your local spa for a hydrafacial in Dallas or facial in Rockwall, you will lay back on a clean comfortable chair in our facial room. Then you close your eyes and let the skincare professional pamper your pores with a wand that sucks out the dirt from your dirty pores. Once the process of cleaning is done, you’ll likely want to get a mask full of those necessary vitamins to soak into your gorgeous clean skin layer. Oftentimes, we will do dermaplaning first, then hydrafacial.

The process of a hydrafacial is extremely relaxing and feels very refreshing. You can get up and see the results immediately, and there is no need to be more careful when you walk back to your car to continue your day, as it’s also a noninvasive skin treatment.

What does it do?

Mainly, you’re getting a deep cleaning, exfoliation, and hydration. The serums afterwards are for nourishment of your skin to keep it glowing.

Hydrafacials are great for treating all types of skin conditions, such as;

  • Issues of elasticity and firmness
  • Even the skin’s tone and vibrancy
  • Skin texture
  • Brown spots
  • Oily and congested skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

3. Microneedling

What is it?

Microneedling is the process of stimulating your upper layer of skin with a sterile needling device to reactivate the collagen and elastin which has been broken down. By puncturing the skin very lightly, it will naturally respond by repairing the damage with more collagen and elastin.

The process is fantastic for breaking into affected skin layers to replenish the activity that it had previously lost, and works well with a radio frequency treatment and cream or liquid treatments as well for even longer term benefits.

When the process is done by a professional esthetician like ours at Cate’s Touch Spa, it is performed using a specific tool that wakes up your skin and tells the collagen to “Get to work!” While there are at-home tools you can purchase to do a Microneedling procedure like a small needle roller, it’s highly recommended that you go to a professional to get your first treatment done.

Then when you know how to treat yourself like a pro, go ahead and dive in yourself!

How does it feel?

Spas in Dallas will let you leave the day of your treatment, but you will feel some sensitivity and see redness for 2-4 days afterwards. This is totally normal, and you will want to make sure to avoid excess sun exposure during this time. For the day after the treatment, you’ll want to give your skin a chance to relax and repair itself.

This means no sun, no sweat, and nothing too crazy. Enrich your skin and experience by using specially crafted formulas and hydrating serums immediately afterwards.

The actual process can take up to an hour, but it is not painful, although you do bleed a little bit!

Results will be almost immediate, and long term benefits for your skin can be increased collagen activity and elastin for nearly 6 months after treatments. Try not to go too hard on your skin, or you can cause extensive damage. Once a month microneedling treatment is a good timeframe, according to professionals.

What does it do?

Microneedling is great for treating all kinds of skin conditions, including;

  • acne scars
  • stretch marks
  • sagging skin
  • discolorations
  • lines

$150 – 225

4. Chemical Peels

What is it?

Chemical peels in Dallas offer a variety of benefits, and are a great non-invasive way to promote improved skin health.

For Cate’s Touch, we always start by removing the layer of skin on top that is dirty through a dermaplaning process, and then apply the chemical peel to the layer of skin underneath, which will help your growing skin even more.

There are different kinds of peels and they have different effects, but can generally be placed in one of two categories: Superficial peels and Medium-depth peels.

Superficial peels affect the top layer of skin while medium depth peels penetrate below the upper most skin layer for even deeper cleaning and greater skin benefits. They come with a variety of types and ingredients, like fruits, salicylic acid, and glycolic acids. The choice of which is best should be a decision made between you and your skincare professional. Feel free to call us to have a conversation.

What does it feel like?

When you come to our spa in Rockwall, you’ll be guided to a private room where you can lay down, breathe, and enjoy while we clean and prepare your skin treatments. Depending on the type of peel you choose will determine the time you spend with it applied. It is a freshing, relaxing facial experience.

What does it do?

Chemical peels are an advanced treatment for the skin, and use a combination of vitamins and acids to penetrate the top layer of skin and rejuvenate the newer, fresher skin layer underneath with proper hydration and nourishment.

They are used for many types of skin conditions such as;

  • Create glowing skin
  • Reduce pigmentation
  • Improve hydration
  • Improve skin texture
  • Lift skin
  • Oil distribution
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Minimize the appearance of scars
  • Shrink appearance of pores
  • Acne treatment
